The Kindred Dog PDX shadow Program provides you with an inside look at behavioral training as well as a detailed look into the business realm.

As a shadow student, you will be spending time with Ruben and Shane, learning and getting hands on experience with many types of dogs and behaviors. You will experience everything from the foundational work, private sessions, leash training, remote collar training, incoming and outgoing board and learn dogs, the use of food in training, building communication, and relationship building. In addition to the training, you will also learn the ins and outs of running a dog training business which includes crate management, customer service, marketing, and administrative duties.

In this dog training instructor course you will learn all about what it takes to be a dog trainer, and dog training business owner. There is more than what meets the eye, and if you are interested in becoming a dog trainer this is a great place to start and learn about everything it entails!

The open gym is our answer to not having a place to practice your skills where you feel comfortable before taking it out into the real world.

As a dog owner first and dog trainer second I know first hand that sometimes training out in the real world can be stressful. You never know if an off leash dog is going to rush up to you and your dog or if you will be bombarded by well meaning dog lovers who can’t take no for an answer.

The dog gym is your opportunity to practice your skills in a more structured environment and get the coaching you need to help you and your dog feel safe. We want to help you concentrate on your dog first. You can use this time to practice so you can feel comfortable when you go out into the real world with your dog.

The dog gym is only open to past board and train clients and private lesson clients. We need everyone to be on the same page. I also realize that some other companies have similar philosophies as us in which case you may be eligible to participate. Email us and we can discuss where you are at.
